From January 2010, it will no longer be possible to buy or use virgin R22, and stock of recycled R22 is likely to be very limited. Which means that the large numbers of organisations still reliant on R22 - supermarkets, air conditioning users, food processing and chemical processing plants - are going to be in big trouble sooner or later.
There are many reasons why many are not facing up to the problem, including lack of in-house knowledge, and often inability to make the necessary investment in new equipment or even in alternative refrigerant.
But it's a problem that will not disappear over time: it's going to get worse as R22 becomes ever-more expensive, and then unavailable leaving many Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Equipment Operators in the lurch

28th Sept 09 - Daikin increases production
DAIKIN is to employ more staff and ramp up production at its Ostend plant in response to what it sees as "recent positive sales signals". Around 200 production line workers are to be employed on a temporary basis and most production lines will switch from day shift to the two-shift system.
