F Gas Compliance

REFCOM has been formally named by DEFRA as a Company Certification body

From 4th July 2009 it became a legal requirement for all businesses that install, maintain or service stationary refrigeration, air-conditioning or heat-pump (RAC) equipment that contains or is designed to contain "F gas" refrigerants, to hold a Company Certificate issued by an appointed Company Certification Body. It will be an offence to carry out these activities without a Company Certificate.

Company Certification is a mandatory requirement

Relevant businesses and sole traders must either have an interim or a full Company Certificate in place by July 4th 2009. Interim certificates are valid until July 2011. Full certificates are valid for 3 years from the date of issue.

This new legal requirement applies to RAC maintenance contractors and installers, including sole traders, and to RAC end users and facility managers that employ their own qualified staff to carry out the activities list above

Proair have currently received the Interim Certification which will be in place until July 2011, thereafter only FULL Certification will be valid

Are you the owner or operator?

Under F Gas Regulation(EC) 842/2006 (F-Gas) The owner is responsible for the operator’s actions; the operator is the person responsible for ensuring that the equipment is compliant under the regulation.

In certain circumstances this responsibility could come under the remit of the maintaining contractor or the owner as they can be found to be equally responsible for complying with the regulation.

Only certified personnel and companies can carry out these works !!

It is the Owner or the Operators responsibility to ensure that the Company they employ to carry out these works are compliant and Certificated
